Affiliate disclosure
The short version: some links on SortedTradie are affiliate links. If you click one and then sign up, subscribe or buy, the company may pay us a commission. You pay the same price either way. Commissions are how this site is paid for.

How to spot an affiliate link
- Every article that contains affiliate links has a disclosure box near the top, before the first link, naming the companies involved.
- Affiliate buttons carry the words "Affiliate link" right next to them.
- Most affiliate links go through an address starting with
/go/on our site before they send you to the merchant. Amazon links go straight to amazon.com.au and are labelled as paid links. All affiliate links are marked as sponsored in the page code. - Links to official sources such as the ATO, regulators and standards bodies are never affiliate links.
Who pays us
We apply to, or are members of, affiliate programs run by companies and networks including software providers (such as ServiceM8, Tradify, Fergus, Simpro and Xero), an online insurance quote service (BizCover), retailers (such as Amazon Australia and workwear stores) and affiliate networks (such as Commission Factory, impact.com and PartnerStack). Commission types vary: a one-off amount per new customer, a percentage of a subscription or premium, or a percentage of a sale. Some programs are still being applied for, and links may go straight to the merchant without earning anything until they're approved.
Amazon links
As an Amazon Associate, SortedTradie earns from qualifying purchases. We're a member of the Amazon Associates program run by Amazon Australia. If you click an Amazon link on this site and buy something within Amazon's tracking window, Amazon pays us a small percentage of the sale. That applies to most things in the same visit, not just the item we linked to. You pay the same price. We don't show Amazon prices or ratings on this site, so check the current price, the seller and the sizing on Amazon before you buy.
For power tools and batteries, some makers only honour their warranty when you buy from an authorised dealer, so our Amazon links are for accessories, consumables, workwear and safety gear rather than the tools themselves.
Insurance links
If you buy insurance after clicking one of our links, the provider may pay us a commission based on the premium. We don't arrange insurance, we don't give insurance advice, and a link is not a recommendation of any policy. Please read the PDS and TMD, and see our general advice warning.
Editorial independence
- Commissions don't decide which products we cover, what we say about them or the order we list them in.
- We say what we don't like about products, including ones that pay us.
- We include good options that don't pay us, and say so.
- No company can pay to appear in a guide, to be ranked higher, or to review a guide before it's published.
- We don't accept free products in exchange for coverage. If that ever changes for a specific item (for example a loan unit for testing), we'll say so on that page.

Why we're telling you
Under the Australian Consumer Law, businesses must not mislead consumers, and the ACCC expects commercial relationships such as affiliate arrangements to be disclosed clearly and close to the link. Beyond the law, you should know who benefits when you click so you can judge what we say for yourself.
